Käthe Lipke remembered the synagogue in color

Käthe Lipke’s 1930 watercolor shows the sanctuary’s blue curtain and octagonal bimah. Her hand preserved the only known color record of the interior before its destruction. The painting records one artist’s view and cannot reproduce every color or detail exactly.
