Keyboard, captions, and text
The archive is meant to be read with a keyboard, a screen reader, and the captions already on the film.
Keyboard
Skip directly to the page
A skip link appears first on every page and moves keyboard focus past the site header. Links, buttons and disclosure controls are intended to remain reachable without a pointer.
Film
Captions and another player
The two-minute film includes burned-in English captions. Its film room also provides the transcript, sources and credits, with YouTube as an alternative player.
Images
Text stays with the object
Archive images have alternative text. Object pages keep captions, source and provenance, image treatment and any known uncertainty beside the image. AI-generated and AI-assisted interpretations are labeled where they appear.
Languages
The English record remains the master
English is the master public record. German and Hebrew rooms are available for Home, the letter, One Day, About and Search. Other rooms remain in English.
Contrast
Display and reading surfaces
Gold on black is used for display; longer reading appears on paper-colored surfaces. If a control does not have enough contrast, that is a bug. Please email contact@reichenbacharchive.org with the page address, device and barrier.
