A visible record of material change

Stronger evidence can change an identification, date, credit, translation or rights statement. Material changes are dated here; uncertainty is not quietly edited away.

Report a correction

Start with the page, record and evidence.

Send the permanent page URL or object ID, the statement that needs review, the proposed correction and the source or firsthand knowledge that supports it. A source lead may be valuable even when it does not yet resolve the record.

Evidence first; public wording second.

A submitted correction is a claim to review, not an automatic edit. The archive keeps the source, the request and the decision distinct.

    Match the request to an exact page, object ID, person or credit line.

    Preserve

    Keep the supplied evidence and the prior public wording in the administrative record.

    Evaluate

    Separate direct documentation, testimony and inference; record unresolved conflicts rather than forcing agreement.

    Publish

    Correct the object and connected pages, then add a dated public note when the change alters a material claim, credit, rights statement or treatment disclosure.

Access and accountability release
  • Made translation depth explicit across 353 permanent object records: 18 curated records have full German and Hebrew editions; the remaining 335 provide localized discovery summaries before the English canonical record.
  • Separated the 59-record Reading Room from the 353-record Complete Catalog and added stronger search, archival-series facets, permanent citations and image-access boundaries.
  • Added a print-ready 45/90-minute teacher source packet and public JSON, CSV and XLSX research exports.
  • Added this corrections record, a preservation and succession statement, and a nonbinding institutional transfer-preparation packet.

Correction status: this entry records access, governance and transparency improvements. It does not record a new claim-changing evidence correction.

Earlier site work predates this public log. It has not been reconstructed from memory and presented as a complete correction history.

Public-log boundary

Material corrections are logged; routine maintenance is not inflated into one.

The public log covers changes to identity, relationship, date, place, fate, provenance, translation, credit, rights, access restriction or disclosed image treatment. Typographic repairs, broken-link repairs and accessibility improvements are logged only when they change meaning or access to evidence.

Removal requests and living-person restrictions may require a deliberately limited public note. Private contact information, sensitive evidence and security details are never reproduced in this log.
