P. Reichenbach Yom Kippur Machzor — Gilt cloth cover

Object record

Daniel Reichenbach notes that by this period the family supported Reform Judaism, did not keep kosher and did not generally wear traditional dress. The preservation of Paul’s Yom Kippur machzor nevertheless records an enduring attachment to inherited Jewish prayer and ritual within a modern, acculturated household. The survival of the book does not establish how often it was used.
