Kaufhaus Reichenbach sales floor

Inside Kaufhaus Reichenbach: staircase, counters and upper gallery, 1930

Object record

The photograph is the strongest surviving test of the 1913 rebuilding as experienced by a customer. The curved stair rises beside long counters and stocked wall shelving; the upper balustrade confirms that the two selling levels read as one interior rather than separate rooms.
