Halberstadt Aryanization list — Paul Reichenbach and Mennigen & Co.

The list closes an important evidentiary gap. Family-held handbills name ‘HATEX, Mennigen & Co., Martiniplan 10, Halberstadt,’ while this official leaf identifies Mennigen & Co. as the firm through which Paul Reichenbach’s business was Aryanized. Together they establish HATEX as the trading name used by the named successor. A 1938 address-book correction separately marks Paul Reichenbach’s women’s-clothing entry at Hoher Weg 27 / Martiniplan 10 ‘ist zu streichen’ (‘is to be deleted’). That deletion supports the chronology of dispossession but is not the sale instrument and does not itself date the transfer. The missing contract and postwar company history remain separate research questions.

Uncertainty

The leaf identifies the Jewish business and the Aryanization successor, but does not state the exact transfer date, price, purchase instrument, property-title mechanism or later corporate fate. A separate row lists ‘M. Reichenbach, Inh. Kurt Reichenbach’ opposite Fritz Tittmann. The 1928 and 1938 directories show two different men named Kurt: one associated with the J. Reichenbach clothing house, and another associated with the M. Reichenbach gut-string business. The latter must not be merged with Paul’s clothing firm, clothing-house Kurt, or the Dominikanerstraße 23 deportee without an explicit documentary bridge.
