Seinen lieben Geschwistern Ruth und Albert zum Hochzeitsfest in Liebe gewidmet von Dolf Melodie: Das gibts nur einmal ... Liebe Gäste, Hochzeitsfeste Feiert man gern jederzeit. Darum heute, glaubt mir, Leute, Bin ich zum dichten bereit. Alle, die Ihr versammelt hier, Singt nun im Chor mit mir! Bei jeder Liebe, bei jeder Ehe, Wenn zwei sich reichen die ‚la main‘, Was bei der Sache auch sonst geschehe Gibt es denselben Hauptrefrain! Das gibts nicht einmal, Das kommt stets wieder, Das geht ans Herz und ans Gemüt! English translation
For his dear siblings Ruth and Albert, lovingly dedicated for their wedding celebration by Dolf. Melody: ‘Das gibt’s nur einmal …’ (‘It Happens Only Once …’). Dear guests, wedding celebrations are gladly held at any time. So today, believe me, friends, I am ready to compose. Everyone gathered here, now sing in chorus with me! With every love and every marriage, when two people offer one another ‘la main’—the hand—whatever else may happen, there is the same main refrain: this does not happen only once; it always comes again; it touches the heart and the feelings. Therefore, dear ones, this song was written with great love, so that all of you, in every case, may be thoroughly versed in the subject.
