RB-SCAN-050
Date
Undated; early twentieth century
Medium
Colour printed picture postcard
Digital image
3272 × 2114 pixels
Evidence status
Historical printed illustration; title and series read from the apparent reverse; artist attribution provisional
Uncertainty
Neither vessel nor a particular historical collision has been identified. The printed signature appears to read A. Jansen; a dealer lists the same title under Alfred Jansen, but the artist's full identity, the marks after the signature and the publication year are not established. Physical front-and-back pairing awaits confirmation.
Source and provenance
Scans supplied by Daniel Reichenbach on 14 September 2026 as Scan.jpeg (message and address) and Scan 1.jpeg (picture). Catalogued together as the apparent two sides of one postcard; the physical pairing has not yet been separately confirmed.
Credit
Reichenbach Family Archive; postcard published by Theodor Stroefer, Nuremberg (T.S.N.); picture tentatively attributed to Alfred Jansen.
Rights
Family-supplied historical scans published at the archive owner's request. No separate reuse licence is asserted for the postcard artwork.
Image treatment
Full-resolution scan rotated 90° clockwise for upright viewing and saved as PNG. No cropping, retouching, tonal adjustment or generative alteration. The original JPEG is preserved separately; small gallery previews are display derivatives.
