Standesamt Halberstadt marriage record no. 46 identifies Dr. Martin Pützrath as born on 25 November 1899 in Liegnitz, birth register no. 1550, and resident in Berlin-Schöneberg when he married Ruth Helene Reichenbach in 1930.
Paul and Ernst Reichenbach witnessed the marriage. Their signatures place the event within Ruth’s immediate family and make the record an important source for more than the couple alone.
A marginal entry records that the marriage was dissolved by judgment of the Berlin regional court, final on 11 August 1932. Another records that Ruth resumed the surname Reichenbach on 11 January 1933.
The civil entry corrects an earlier low-resolution misreading of Martin’s surname as Fabisch. No later record has yet revealed Martin’s career beyond the title Dr., the names of his parents or what happened to him after the divorce.
