English translation
Requiem Song Composed by Chief Cantor I. Singer I. Soul, why are you cast down? Why are you so anxious within me? Do you not feel the Father’s nearness, He who carries us all in His heart? Is there no God for you in the heights, who loves even when He strikes? Look upward! Trust in God! Soul, why are you cast down? Lift your heart heavenward! Every tear that falls is counted by the Ruler of His world. II. God, we look up to You and thank You through our tears. Highly praised be Your name when You take and when You give. Even then You scatter seeds of healing when You grieve our hearts. Look upward! Trust in God! Soul, you are God’s image; devout and pure, you remain His. And even when the eye breaks, God remains our confidence.
