Paula Reichenbach married Georg Wollenberg in 1903. Georg joined the family clothing business, and the couple raised their son Hans in Halberstadt. In 1935 Paul called Georg an angeheirateter Vetter, a cousin by marriage.
Paula’s Halberstadt birth act, no. 343 of 18 April 1877, names her as the daughter of the merchant Ludwig Reichenbach and Lina née Asch, living at Hoheweg 24, and records the household as mosaisch. A marginal note records that the forced additional name “Sara” was entered on 5 January 1939 and struck on 31 January 1947.
A National Refugee Service tracing card filed from São Paulo on 4 May 1945 lists Paula, born in Halberstadt on 18 April 1877, as the sister of Kurt Reichenbach and Antonie Weiss née Reichenbach. The card names no parents, but the three siblings’ civil birth acts now do.
By April 1942 Paula and Hans were living at Westendorf 15, the former Jewish school turned into forced collective housing. Halberstadt ordered them to Domplatz on 12 April. They were taken through Magdeburg and put on the 14 April train with Kurt and Antonie.
The Warsaw Judenrat recorded the train’s arrival at six in the morning on 16 April. After that morning this archive has no named record of Paula.

What remains uncertain
Paula’s 1877 birth act establishes Ludwig Reichenbach and Lina née Asch as her parents. Antonie’s 1879 and Kurt’s 1889 birth acts name the same parents, with their mother written as Pauline, and confirm the sibling relationship recorded on the separate 1945 tracing card. No surviving record now places Paula after Warsaw on 16 April 1942.
